Cloudpath Releases XpressConnect ES 4.0 with Support for Chromebooks, eduroam, InCommon, MDM, and More
Cloudpath Networks today announced the availability of XpressConnect Enrollment System (ES) 4.0, which includes support for Chromebooks, eduroam, InCommon, MDM, Hotspot 2.0, and more.
Westminster, Colorado, February 13, 2015 – Cloudpath Networks (www.cloudpath.net), the industry leader for Automated Device Enablement (ADE), today announced the availability of XpressConnect Enrollment System (ES) 4.0 for both on-premise and cloud-based customers. The 4.0 release builds upon XpressConnect’s track record of certificate provisioning and Wi-Fi onboarding across a wide array of unmanaged (BYOD) and managed devices.
“Starting with simply an access point and XpressConnect ES, a certificate-based wireless network, including self-service onboarding, can be set up and running in minutes,” said Kevin Koster, CEO, Cloudpath Networks. “Whether it is on-premise or in the cloud, XpressConnect ES streamlines the administrative and user experience of secure Wi-Fi. Release 4.0 takes it further by adding support for Chromebooks and additional service integration options.”
XpressConnect ES 4.0 adds support for onboarding managed and unmanaged Chromebooks. For managed Chromebooks, both user and device certificates are supported. Certificates may be distributed from a variety of sources, including the built-in certificate services and Microsoft CA. Once installed on the device, the certificates are available for a wide array of uses, including certificate-based WiFi (WPA2-Enterprise with EAP-TLS), web SSO authentication, web two-factor authentication, and more.
For educational institutions, XpressConnect ES 4.0 adds support for eduroam and the InCommon managed PKI. With a couple of clicks, XpressConnect ES provides the RADIUS interfaces necessary for eduroam participation. For InCommon members, the ability of XpressConnect ES to issue client certificates from the InCommon managed PKI service complements the existing built-in certificate services and Microsoft CA support.
For environments mixing XpressConnect ES with MDM, XpressConnect ES 4.0 offers integration with MDM products to ensure certificates are issued efficiently and appropriately. For service providers, XpressConnect ES 4.0 also adds support for Hotspot 2.0.
XpressConnect ES is designed based on an Automated Device Enablement (ADE) approach, which allows devices to be assimilated into the enterprise easily, securely, and without IT overhead. Designed for the era of personal devices, ADE provides infrastructure-based control and security for both personal and IT-owned devices without the need for on-device agents. ADE uses smart, policy-associated certificates to provide visibility and control over every device starting at the Wi-Fi layer and working upward.
